June 2008 Meeting Minutes

We had a great time playing games last night, those of you that did not make it missed out and a lot of fun. We had some fierce competition at the Washer Toss game (which I see Bi Mart has on sale for $19.99 with a plastic box instead of a wood box in case any one is interested in getting one) and then the competition got even more competitive playing the new golf game.  Those were just the games outside last night, inside Chuck and Harline’s Wii was getting a full workout, competition was hot and heavy there also.  Plus the all time favorite yatzee …  We had a great time.  We never really did have a meeting since we were not able to get inside the building until about 7:20 give or take.  Scott came back up and let us in after LaDeane and Steve got a hold of him, seems the person that was suppose to let us in last night took off before we arrived at 6:00 to setup and then he never came back .. ooooops …  I want to thank Scott for coming back up on a Friday night to let us in.  Steve had just landing when we finally got a hold of Scott so he was close behind Scott also, so either way we were going to make it inside !! J

As far as the meeting part and upcoming events, here is what we have planned for June and July so far …

Ice Cream Social and BBQ Sauce contest – Sunday June 22nd at Vancouver Lake Park

It is not too late to get signed up, just let me know so we can make sure to have enough ice cream for everyone.  Here is the information again for those of you still trying to decide if you want to come join us for the afternoon !!  Sure hope you do !!

Sunday – June 22nd 12:00 to until we are done !! J

This is one of our many great events and you do not want to miss it, we welcome children, grand children, mothers, fathers, grand mothers, grand fathers, brothers, sisters, all family members, friends and neighbors. The more the merrier !!

The club will provide all the Tillamook Ice Cream and topping you’d care to eat. This year as I mentioned above we are featuring a homemade barbeque sauce contest.  If you would like to participate in the BBQ Sauce contest for a great prize please contact Linda Thies at LThies9653@Q.com or Rick at zzrain@comcast.net so we will know how many sauces we will have to judge this year.  We will have bread for dipping the sauce into for everyone to sample your sauce with but if you want to bring your best BBQ dish also (chicken, burgers, ribs or veggies) please do so as part of the potluck lunch we are having also.

The event will start at 12:00 for those of you that want to come for the potluck lunch and BBQ Sauce contest, lunch starts at 12:30. If you only want to come for the ice cream we will start serving it at 3:00 PM after we play some games.  After we have ice cream we will hold our semi annual club raffle.

Speaking of games … J …  we will have our annual remote control car races again this year. We would like anyone that has a remote control car to bring it in case we have a number of kids there that want to participate but do not have a car.  We will let them use the extra cars we may have show up.   And of course for those that want to participate we will have our 2nd annual H2O war games (battle or fight) … lol.. so get those squirt guns out of hiding and come prepared to rumble !!  Our new event this year is a water balloon launching contest, to see who can launch a water balloon the furthest and then also who can be the most accurate and come closes to pre-chosen targets.  You can bring your own water balloon launcher and balloons or use the one we are going to try and put together between 2 posts at the shelter.  Be creative and lets see how far and direct you can send your balloons !! J …  If anyone wants to volunteer to be target, please let us know as soon as you can !! J …  ; ) …

The event will be held again at Vancouver Lake Park, 6801 NW Lower River Road, Vancouver, WA.  There is a large covered shelter, restrooms, a play area for kids, and a huge open area.  We will be at the Heron North Shelter. The only cost for using the park is a 2 dollar per car parking fee.

We usually have a good-sized group (80 to 100) at this Sunday afternoon event so if you are planning on joining us please let Rick or Linda know or sign-up at the next meeting.  Ice cream doesn't keep well and it won't get wasted if we know about how many folks will be there.

If you are coming for the Potluck, please bring as follows:

If your last name begins with the letters between A-L-----Main Dish

If your last name begins with the letters between M-Z-----Side Dish

See you there; make sure to let either Rick or Linda know you are coming, so we can plan correctly, especially quantity of the ice cream.

NW Meet n Greet at Borst Park in Centralia – Saturday June 28th

This could be an annual event for all the clubs in the Pacific Northwest to meet up and make new friends, see old friends, enjoy the fellowship and have a nice peaceful picnic !!  The drive up is about 2 hours plus, about 110 miles one way.  We will be leaving the Gee Creek Rest stop at 8:30 instead of 9:00 since the drive up on the back roads is about 2 hours. The meet n greet starts at 10:00 and goes until 3:00.  It would really be nice to have a nice size group to go on this cruise and meet n greet.  You will make many new friends from all over Oregon, Washington and Canada. If you are interested in join us, please send me an email so we do not leave anyone behind. Remember we are going to be leaving at 8:30 instead of 9:00 now.  All you need to bring is your picnic lunch, water guns, water balloon launchers, chairs and yourself !!! We will be taking the washer toss and golf game, each club is to bring a couple of games for everyone to play.  We are thinking that the water balloon launcher contest will be another fun thing to do !! We will have experience by then from the Ice Cream Social trial run !! Come on join us for a nice cruise and a fun time !!   If you want to you can double up to save on gas, if someone wants to go but does not want to drive let me know we can see about getting you a ride with someone else and split the gas.

Wine Cruise Saturday July 19th

Bill, Bonnie, Peter and Claire are sponsoring this short fun cruise out by Yamhill and Carlton.  Further details will be coming soon !! Mark this one on your calendar also !!

Capital Cruisers Car Show and Casino Days – July 26th

This is an annual event for the Capital Cruisers, it will be held at the Nisqually Red Wind Casino this year. If you are interested in going please let Bob  PT4FUN@msn.com   or Shirley  boopnpt@q.com  know.   We are going to try and make it up there this year.

Vacation Cruise to Coeur D’Alene – September 3rd – 7th

It is still not too late to get signed up for this great vacation cruise !! I will be calling the Rockin B Ranch to reserve some more seats for those of you that have decided to join us, so if you are thinking about coming, let me know.  We have room for another 20 people on the boat ride still, if we are not able to secure more people for the boat ride we will have to increase the cost up to a max of $25.00 per person right now with the current number we have signed up.  The more people that sign up the easier it will be to stay at the $18.25 per person that we originally predicted.

We hope that everyone is having a great weekend !!  The weather is great !! especially compared to what we have been experiencing !! J ….

Thanks

Happy Cruisin !!

Rick and Jody
